Books to Read on Mother Language Day - 21st Feb.
A Homage to All Mother Languages!
There are some mother languages in this world that are never put in to paper. There are some mother languages in this world that are never recognized by their respective governments.
And, there are some mother languages in this world that you and I have never even heard being spoken by the natives who speak it.
The real misfortune - or the tragedy - is yet to come.
Believe me. Never will be these mother languages that are never put in to paper, ever find their way in to any kind of official documentation either through print or any other electronic media.
Never will be these mother languages that are never recognized by states, ever succeed in obtaining their proper standing they deserve among the communities.
Never will be the natives who produce these strange voices belonging to these mysterious mother languages, ever gain their equal share in making themselves heard across the world. Never.
It looks like as if you and I are going to remain ignorant of these mother languages forever. Natives who speak these obscure languages will remain in the shadows until doomsday.
Understanding the need to address the seriousness of this pathetic fate awaiting those undisclosed mother languages confined to remote areas in the world, whilst at the same time standing up for all other mother languages in existence, a group of aspiring Sweekers have come forward with a collection of flash fiction stories with the objective raising awareness among the international community on the importance of one’s mother language!
Their arrival is timely. Since 21st February 2018 is recognized by the United Nations as the International Mother Language Day!
Let’s all join hands to stand up for their noble cause on behalf of all our mother languages and support them to make their dream a reality by telling all our friends in every social media channel we are active!
